Another home in a school

A primary school was transformed into a family home. Two former classrooms were vertically connected by a large void, creating a dramatic sense of scale and light. The original corridor and stairwell were used to house a series of bed and bathrooms. The reuse of existing structural and ornamental elements wherever possible ensures the atmospheric continuity of the building. Newly added elements have a distinctively different materiality and use of colour, amplifying the historic layering of the much loved school.
